The girls on the Tiger wrestling team kicked off their postseason with the girls section 3 individual tournament held in Redwood Falls Feb. 6-7. At the sections, Ava Gramith became the first girl from MAHACA to qualify for state by winning the 106-pound bracket. The MAHACA boys wrestling team wrapped up their regular season last week with a home dual against KMS Feb. 5 where they fell 59-10 to the Saints. The next day, the Tigers went on the road to compete in the Purple Pride Tournament in Albany where MAHACA finished eighth out of nine teams.

The Tigers welcomed the KMS Saints to Morris last week for a dual. KMS had their way with the Tigers on the mat, winning 11 of the 13 weight classes to secure a 59-10 win over MAHACA.
KMS won the first two weight classes to take an 11-0 advantage. The Tigers won two of the next three weight classes with a pin from Will Haugen at 121 pounds and a 10-1 major decision from Zachary Kleindl at 133 pounds to make the score 14-10. KMS then responded by winning the final eight weight classes to cruise their way to a 59-10 win over MAHACA.

Purple Pride Tournament
The MAHACA boys went on the road on Friday to compete in the Purple Pride Tournament in Albany. The Tigers finished eighth as a team and had two wrestlers finish runner up in their weight class with Xavier and Jace Kleindl.
As a team, MAHACA totaled 79 points to finish eighth out of nine teams. Paynesville Area won the team competition with 201.5 points.
Xavier and Jace Kleindl led the Tigers by finishing second in their weight classes. Xavier was 3-1 with two pins and a major decision at 139 pounds and Jace was 3-1 with two pins and a tech fall at 160 pounds.
At 114 pounds, Jaxon Seggerman finished fourth with a 1-3 record and a pin. Zachary Huebner (107), Logan Harpstead (127) and Brenden Hughes (133) all finished fifth in their weight classes for the Tigers.

Girls Sections
In total, eight girls from Morris Area/Hancock Area/Chokio-Alberta made the trip to Redwood Falls last week for the Section 3A individual meet. Ava Gramith became the first girl qualifier for MAHACA by winning the 106-pound weight class.
Gramith led the Tigers by winning all four of the matches she competed in at 106 pounds with three pins and a major decision. In the finals, she faced off with Elouise Snook from Eagan and pulled off a pin to punch her ticket to state.
MAHACA finished with three wrestlers earning third place in their weight classes. Ashlin Gibson was third at 124 pounds, finishing 5-2 with two pins, two major decisions and a tech fall. Jade Marty was third at 148 pounds, going 3-2 with three pins and Olivia Olson was 2-2 with two pins at 235 pounds. Rhylee Schmitz, Jordyn Hughes, Mandy Kleindl and Aubrie Barry all competed, but did not place for MAHACA.
