Charles Emil Finstad, ”Chuck” age 81 of “The Copper Shores” in Pleasant Hill, IA formerly of Burnsville, MN passed away on Oct 26, 2023, in Des Moines, IA; surrounded by family. Chuck was born on January 19, 1942, in Alexandria, MN to Emil and Irene (nee: Erickson) Finstad. He grew up and attended school in Morris, MN. Chuck’s love of sports grew managing numerous high school and college sports. After attending the U of M Morris & Mn School of Business, Chuck served his country in the US Air Force, making the rank of Sergeant. He married Betty Ann Hawley on September 28, 1968 & they raised 2 children together. Chuck worked as an accountant at Skyline Displays Midwest where he made many wonderful friends during the 25 years before his retirement. Chuck was an avid sports fan including rooting for the Burnsville Blaze, Mn Gophers, Mn Vikings, SE Polk Rams, & Iowa State Cyclones. Chuck loved to support & watch his grandkids in all the activities they were involved in. He is preceded in death by his parents, Emil & Irene Finstad, wife, Betty & many beloved cats and dogs. He is survived by children, Michael (Jodi) Finstad and Susanne (Daniel) Cahalan; grandchildren, Kaylin, Kamryn, & Kelsey Finstad, and Mackenzie & Tyler Cahalan. A Funeral Service will be held 10 AM Monday Nov 6, 2023, at Christus Victor Lutheran Church, 7510 Palomino Dr., Apple Valley, MN. with a visitation on Sunday November 5th from 4-7 PM at the White Funeral Home, 14560 Pennock Ave., Apple Valley, and 1 hr before service, at the church. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials will be donated to, Furball Farm Cat Sanctuary, in Faribault, MN.
