Clinton Gordon “Clint” Sperr passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026, at the age of 95. He leaves behind a legacy shaped by devotion, curiosity, service, kindness, and love—a legacy carried forward in the family he cherished, the friends he helped, the laughter he shared, and the countless lives he touched.
Clint was born in Donnelly, Minnesota. He was the 6th child born in a family of 12, 9 girls and 3 boys. Throughout his long and full life, he lived in many states and called many places home. Before beginning his 30-year career with IBM, he proudly served in the United States Army with the 2nd Infantry Division in Korea, where he repaired radios. His natural ability to understand how things worked remained with him throughout his life.
On March 15, 1952, Clint married the love of his life, Veramae “Vera,” at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Holloway, Minnesota. Together, they shared 68 years of marriage and raised four children. Every two years, they loaded their children into the station wagon and traveled to visit Clint’s eleven siblings and Vera’s five siblings. Those journeys became cherished family memories.
After retiring from IBM at age 55, Clint and Vera moved to Moses Lake, Washington, where they made their home for 35 years. A farmer friend sent Clint to irrigation school, and during his years in Moses Lake, he worked on irrigation projects for others. He and Vera enjoyed life beside the lake and the community they built there. At age 91, Clint returned to the Bremerton area. Vera preceded him in death on October 9, 2020, nearly six years before his passing.
Clint was happiest when he had a project to complete. He loved fixing and building things and always had a tractor—usually a green John Deere—which he took immense pride in working with and caring for. His resourcefulness and practical nature were clear in everything he did.
He also had a deep love for animals. One of his favorite pets was Homer, a Canadian goose he raised from an egg. Homer stayed by Clint’s side and even flew alongside him while Clint rode his motorcycle.
The outdoors brought Clint boundless joy. Hunting was a favorite activity for many years, and later in life, he especially enjoyed fishing on Moses Lake.
Clint was always willing to help others and never seemed too busy to lend a hand. He loved telling jokes and making people laugh, and his kindness, generosity, and genuine care made him someone no one ever had a bad thing to say about. His faith and church community were also important to him, and he was a member of Silverdale Lutheran Church.
Clint was the father of four children: Alan Sperr, who preceded him in death; Cathleen Sanderson; Paulette Ward; and Tamara Sperr-Bailey. He was the proud grandfather of Michael Sperr, Douglas Ward, and Spencer Bailey. One of the special joys of his later years was meeting and holding his great-granddaughter, Amara Ward, shortly after she was born.
Clint will be remembered not only for all he built and repaired, but for the people and relationships he strengthened along the way. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and neighbor—a man whose steady hands, generous heart, quick wit, and willingness to help made the world around him better. His family will carry forward the lessons of his life: to serve faithfully, care deeply, stay curious, lend a hand, and find joy in the simple work of making things right. Clint’s presence will be deeply missed, but his love, laughter, and enduring example will remain with all who knew him.
