The Hancock Cemetery board of directors along with the Memorial Day Committee invite the public to this year’s Memorial Day Service. It will be held on Monday, May 30 at 10 a.m. at the cemetery. In the event of inclement weather the service will be held at the Hancock Public School and this will be announced over KMRS-KKOK.
Doug Wolf, on behalf of the Veterans of the area, and Pastor Dave from the Christian Reformed Church will be the speakers. We will recognize those who have given so much so that we can live in and enjoy the freedom that was and is being guarded by men and women serving in the armed service. It is the board’s goal that this event serve as a reminder to all citizens of the United States of the great debt we owe to those who have gone before and to thank God for the blessing He has bestowed on each of us to live in the U.S.A., where we are proud to call home.
Coffee, juice and donuts will be served after the service. Donations for the upkeep of the cemetery can also be given at this time.
The board would like to thank all who have so generously given financially to help keep the Lakeside Cemetery well maintained. As a board they are dedicated to keeping the cemetery not only clean and neat, but as a way to preserve our community history. The cemetery board includes Delven Pahl, David Paul, Darrel Walton, Reed Peterson, Rob Messner and Roger Blair.
“America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold,” stated Joseph Stalin, “its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within.”
Let us pause, as a people, on Memorial Day to remember why we are here and honor those who helped make it all possible.
