Joyce Laager was born July 15, 1942, in Morris, MN to Fred and Geneva (Pitts) Laager. She  was one of nine siblings and grew up on the family farm west of Donnelly. Joyce attended  District 44 School and graduated from Alberta High School. 

Joyce worked at a variety of places including First National Bank in Minneapolis and then Metal Matic for many years before retiring. She really enjoyed working at Metal Matic  making sure she brought in treats for the employees many days. 

Joyce was an excellent cook and baker and loved bringing food to many events including  family gatherings. She always had a good recipe to share with her family and friends. There  was never a shortage of good food at events when Joyce was attending. Joyce also loved to  fish and go camping. She enjoyed getting out in her boat and catching the many bass,  walleye and other fish. She loved a good fish fry with her family. Besides fishing, she was  an avid gardener and would compare notes with her brothers and sisters on gardening. She  would do a lot of canning and freezing of a variety of vegetables to have for the winter  months.  

Joyce loved spending time with her siblings and in-laws. Many years they would go to her  sister’s lake home for a long weekend and play cards and games as well as getting to a  casino for a night too. Joyce and her siblings would play bingo on certain nights as an  outing as well. 

Even though Joyce didn’t have any children of her own, she would spoil her many nieces  and nephews. From playing and baking with them when they were little; to putting on  makeup and doing hair with her nieces and going to many different Country Western  concerts with them. She was always considered a FUN auntie! 

Joyce passed away peacefully at Mercy Hospital on January 27th at the age of 83. Joyce is  survived by her sister Sandy (Ronnie) Lemmerman, and her brothers Richard Laager and  Dean (Kathy) Laager, her sister-in-law Kay Laager, brother-in-law Roger Boldenow and  several nieces and nephews.  

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents Fred and Geneva Laager; stepmother Thelma  Laager; sisters Diane Boldenow; Ethel Mae Hallberg; brothers Gerald Laager; David Laager  and Daniel Laager.  

A private memorial will be held later this spring.
