The final regular season competition on the Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta schedule was the West Central Conference meet at the Benson Golf Course Oct. 16. The Tigers finished the meet with one All-Conference runner in freshman Kendal Fischer and two Honorable Mentions in Hailey Werk and Truett Richards.
The girls team finished the meet in fifth out of seven teams with 114 points. Minnewaska Area was the top team with 55 points.
MACA finished with two girls in the top-13. Fischer was the leading runner and placed seventh with a time of 21:17.16 and Werk came in 13th with a time of 21:59.79. Eighth-grader Anya Fehr was next for the Tigers in 28th with a time of 23:37.50. Hana Schutz finished in 23:50.25 to put her in 31st. Alayna Perkins ran a time of 25:35.57 to place 41st. Kassidy Vlaminck ran a time of 27:10.63 and finished 46th. Avery Waterworth came in 48th by running a time of 27:59.60.
In the boys race, the Tigers finished in seventh out of seven teams with 177 points. Sauk Centre was the conference champion with just 32 points.
The MACA boys did not finish with a runner in the top-30 positions. Truett Richards was the top runner for the Tigers in 31st with a time of 19:54.64 and Ethan Koehler was just four seconds behind Richards in 32nd. Carlos Rivera came in 36th with a time of 20:09.28. Grady Stallman ran a time of 20:33.66 to finish 40th. Wesley Richards finished in 21:32.92 to finish 43rd. Aaron Baker and Charlie DeNeui finished side-by-side in 45th and 46th place with times of 22:21.45 and 22:34.09.
With the conference meet in the rear view mirror, the Tigers turn their attention to the postseason. MACA will be back in action on Thursday, October 26 when they will compete in the Section 6A meet in Long Prairie for a chance to qualify for the Class A Minnesota State Cross Country Meet.
