The MACA golf teams were in action just one day last week when they played in the Benson and Minnewaska Area West Central Conference meets May 7. These two courses are two of the toughest in the conference, but the boys team still managed to tie for first at both meets with two different squads.

The teams were back in action in Benson for an 18-hole invitational May 14. Next, the team will start Section 3AA tournament play. The girls will start Wednesday, May 21 and the boys will play Thursday, May 22 at Oakdale Golf Club. 

Benson meet

In Benson, the Tigers had to battle with the home team for first place. MACA ended up tying Benson as a team for first place with a total of 160. Charlie Hanson was the medalist with a round of 37. Jaxon Hilbrands broke 40, shooting 39 to place fifth. Landen Gibson was 10th with a 41 and the fourth score came from Tyson Grove, who was 18th with a 43. 

The girls team finished fifth with a total of 214. Minnewaska won the team event with a total of 165. 

Katlin Gibson led the Tigers, placing 15th with a round of 48. Alice Mahoney was next for MACA in 19th with a round of 51. Izabelle Motz was 31st with a 57 and Yavonne Vanhorn and Elizebeth Day were the fourth score, placing 32nd with a 58.

Minnewaska meet

For the second time in the same day, MACA tied for first place as a team, but it was with a different team at the Minnewaska Golf Course. MACA tied for first with West Central Area with a team total of 158. 

Hanson won another tournament by shooting three-under 33. Landen Gibson cracked the top-10 by placing ninth with a 41. Tyson Grove and Carter Pew both finished 14th by firing rounds of 42.

For the girls, MACA finished sixth with a round of 233. Minnewaska won their home meet with a total of 169. 

Katlin Gibson led the Tigers, placing seventh with a round of 47. Mahoney was next for MACA, placing 26th with a 57, Day came in 33rd with 64 and the fourth score was from Vanhorn, who finished 34th with a 65.
