The West Central Conference boys and girls golf season finally kicked off last week. The boys and girls both competed in the BOLD meet in Olivia and in Montevideo April 20. The girls finished third on both meets and the boys were third and sixth. The boys capped the week off at the Willmar/New London-Spicer meet April 23-24 where the Tigers finished tied for 11th out of 17 teams.
BOLD Meet
In Olivia, the MACA boys and girls were in action for a West Central Conference nine-hole meet. Both the boys and girls finished the meet in third place as a team.
The boys team played first in Olivia, kicking off their 2026 conference season. MACA fired a team total of 169 to place third. Minnewaska won the team meet with a score of 162.
It was a pretty balanced scoring attack for the Tigers with their four individual scores being between 41 and 44. Lincoln Schneider led the team in fourth place with a round of 41. Abe Suess and Freddy Hanson both tied for 10th by firing rounds of 42. Jace Kleindl and Tyson Grove both tied for 24th by carding 44s.
The MACA girls team came in third as a team with a score of 204. Minnewaska won the girls meet with a 168.
Aranza Geurrero was the lone MACA player in the top-10, finishing sixth with an even-bogey round of 45. Kaitlin Gibson came in 17th by shooting an even 50. Elizebeth Day finished with a score of 54 to place 23rd and the fourth score came from Alice Mahoney, who came in 24th with a 55.

Montevideo Meet
The other West Central Conference meet for MACA came in Montevideo. As a team, the girls came in third again and the boys finished in sixth.
The girls first conference action of the season came in Montevideo and the girls placed third, breaking 200 with a team score of 199 and Minnewaska won the team meet with 167.
Guerrero led the way for the Tigers with a round of 45 to place sixth. Gibson finished 11th for MACA by signing for a round of 47. Hadley Koehler came in 17th with a 53 and Alice Mahoney fired a 54 to place 18th to round out the top-four scores for the Tigers.
The MACA boys struggled more in Montevideo, shooting the same score of 169, but coming in sixth as a team. Minnewaska won their second conference meet of the day with a score of 154.
Abe Suess and Greyson Meichsner both led the Tigers, shooting 41 to tie for eighth, but Meichsner played in the seventh spot and his score could not be used for the team. Lincoln Schneider chipped in with a 43 to come in 17th and Arne Hanson was 22nd with a 44. The fourth used score for the Tigers was either from Grove or Kleindl, who both shot 45 to tie for 27th.

Sauk Centre Girls Invite
The MACA girls team played in their second 18-hole invitational of the season when they made the trip to Greystone Golf Course in Sauk Centre and the team finished sixth out of eight teams.
MACA fired a four-player score of 445 in the meet to finish in sixth place. Albany won the team competition with a total of 356.
MACA had no players break 100 in the round. Mahoney led the way, shooting a 109 to place 28th. Day came in 29th with a round of 111, Koehler was in 30th with 112 and Guerrero came in 32nd with 113 to round out the four team scores for the Tigers.

Willmar/NLS Invite
MACA joined 16 other teams to compete in the Willmar/New London-Spicer meet. Over two days, the teams played 36 holes. The boys finished the two-day tournament in 11th place as a team.
On the first day in New London, the Tigers fired a 354 and were in 11th place as a team heading into the second day. Abe Suess led the way at Little Crow, shooting an 87. Tyson Grove added an 88 and Lincoln Schneider also broke 90, shooting 89. The fourth team score from the Tigers came from Jace Kleindl, who carded a 90.
On the second day in Willmar, MACA shot the 12th best team score, finishing with a 352. Suess led the team with an 86, Grove shot 87, Hanson added an 89 and Jace Schmidgall was the fourth team score with a 93.
As a team, MACA’s 36-hole total was 706, which put them in a tie for 11th out of 17 teams. Lakeville South won the team event with 619.
The Tigers also had three golfers compete on both days of the tournament. Suess had a total of 173 to lead MACA in 45th place. Grove came in 49th with a two-day total of 175 and Lincoln Schneider came in 60th with 179.
The boys and girls teams were back in action for West Central Conference meets in Morris and Elbow Lake April 28. Next, the boys will compete in the Sauk Centre Invitational Wednesday, April 29.

Delayed from last week
It was finally time for the MACA boys and girls golf programs to kick off their season last week. The boys were the first on the course as they traveled to Marshall April 13 to compete in an 18-hole meet to kick off the season. Just a day later, the girls made that same trip to Marshall for their first competition. Both teams finished fifth as a team to open 2026.
Marshall Boys Invite
In the first competition of the season for the MACA boys, the Tigers made the trip to Marshall to join 14 other teams in an 18-hole invitational. All six of the Tigers scores finished between 78-87, led by eighth-grader Abe Suess.
As a team, MACA finished fifth out of 15 teams with a total score of 326. Marshall Black won their home meet by 30 shots with a 290.
Suess led the team, shooting a 78 out of the fourth spot to finish in 10th place. Arne Hanson played two for MACA, firing an 80 to finish 16th. Jace Kleindl, Tyson Grove and Lincoln Schneider all shot 84 to tie for 29th.

Marshall Girls Invite
A day after the boys were in Marshall, the MACA girls competed in their first meet of the season against 10 other teams. The Tigers finished the meet with three players breaking 100.
MACA finished in fifth place as a team with a total score of 396. Marshall defended their home course and won the meet with 343.
Katlin Gibson led the way for MACA, playing bogey-golf all day finishing with a 92 to place 14th. Alice Mahoney and Aranza Guerrero cracked the top-20, finishing 19th with 98s. Hadley Koehler and Yavonne Vanhorn both tied for 33rd, carding rounds of 108.
