After starting the first week of the season 1-2, the MACA/WCA girls tennis team went 1-2 in their next two contests. The team started with a triangular in Osakis Aug. 25 where they lost a competitive battle 4-3 to Wadena-Deer Creek and was shutout 7-0 by Osakis. MACA/WCA bounced back the very next day in their home opener against Sauk Centre with their own shutout, winning 7-0.

The Osakis triangular started with a matchup against W-DC. Both teams were evenly matched, but the Wolverines did just enough to get by MACA/WCA 4-3.
In singles play, the teams split the four matches. Lydia Sweep played one singles for MACA/WCA and pulled off a straight set win 6-1, 6-4. The other MACA/WCA win came at four singles with Samantha Konz running away 6-0, 6-1.
MACA/WCA only won one doubles match and it was Lilia Asmus and Hannah Schneider at three doubles with a 7-5, 6-4 victory.

It was a tough matchup for MACA/WCA against the Silverstreaks as they were shutout 7-0. All four of the singles matches were straight set losses and MACA/WCA combined to win just six games. They also fell in straight sets in all three doubles matches, although it was more competitive with MACA/WCA combining to win 18 games.

Sauk Centre 0
After suffering a shutout loss, MACA/WCA quickly got that taste out of their mouth with a shutout of their own in their first home meet against Sauk Centre with a 7-0 win.
Konz shutout her opponent at four singles, winning 6-0, 6-0. Sweep played one singles and strolled to a 6-1, 6-0 win. At two singles, Izabell Hoffman picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win and Halle Grimm won the three singles match 6-3, 6-2.
It was more domination in the doubles matches, with MACA/WCA winning every set. Allison Nohl and Molly Wayne played one doubles and won in straight sets 6-2, 6-4. The team of Maggie Knobloch and Ruby Lhotka played two doubles and cruised to a 6-2, 6-4. Asmus and Schneider were the three doubles team and they went on to win 6-2, 6-1.
The team competed against Yellow Medicine East in Granite Falls Aug. 28 and were at home against Melrose Area Sept. 2. Next on the schedule, MACA/WCA will be on the road against Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd Thursday, Sept. 4.
