The Tiger gymnastics team hosted their second home meet in the last three events when they welcomed Maple Lake to Morris Dec. 16. MAHACA earned a team win over Maple Lake 126.9-114.3 for the first time this season. “It was a very exciting meet, lots of energy, cheering and support from one another,” head coach Trent Oberg said.
Tiger gymnasts won all four events against Maple Lake. On the floor, MAHACA finished with the top four scores. Harmony Coverdale was first with 8.750, Heika Hall came in second with 8.350, Giana Feuchtenberger was third with 8.200 and Lucy Feuchtenberger came in fourth with 8.0.
On the beam, Heika Hall earned the win with a score of 8.150, Coverdale was second with 8.050 and Giana Feuchtenberger came in fourth with 7.300. “They showed up and had fun on floor and it paid off. Great improvement,” coach Stephanie Berczinski said.
On the bars, Heika Hall earned another individual win with 7.775, Hazel Hall was third with 7.525, Coverdale was fourth with 7.425 and Giana Feuchtenberger’s 7.275 put her in fifth.
Coverdale earned another win on the vault with 8.650, Giana Feuchtenberger was third with 8.500 and Heika Hall finished fourth with 8.350.
In the all around competition MAHACA finished with three of the top four scores. Coverdale won the competition with a score of 32.875, Heika Hall was second with 32.625 and Giana Feuchtenberger finished fourth with 31.275.
It was personal bests for Heika Hall in floor, beam, bars and all-around. Coverdale set a personal best on bars, Giana Feuchtenberger had a PR on floor and Lucy Feuchtenberger debuted on floor, setting a personal record.
The team also finished with season-high scores on bars (30.0), beam (29.9) and floor (33.3).
Even in the early stages of the season, the MAHACA gymnasts have shown improvement. “We feel and believe that there is more to come from each gymnast and their abilities. The door has been opened and we are ready for the next step,” coach Oberg said.
The team was back in action on the road against Paynesville Dec. 22. Next on the schedule, MAHACA will be on the road at the Park Rapids Invitational Saturday, Jan. 3.
