ST. PAUL, Minn.– The University of Minnesota Morris men’s track & field team swept the weekly UMAC awards this week as sophomoreIzayah Bosswas named Track Performer of the Week and freshmanAnthony Staryszakearned the Field Performer of the Week award.
Competing on Saturday at the Carleton Relays, Boss had a pair of top-three finishes in the 100 Meter Dash and 200 Meter Dash. His time of 11.23 in the 100 Meter Dash is the best time in the UMAC so far this season and was good for a runner-up finish. In the 200, Boss posted a 23.09 that was third in the event and fourth overall in the conference this season.
Staryszak was the winner of the men’s discus throw on Saturday and the runner-up behind teammate Luke Petersen in the hammer throw. In the discus, Staryszak won by more than 19 feet with a throw of 147-6 (44.96m). Though he was well behind Petersen in the hammer, his throw of 154-0 (46.95m) was more than five feet better than the third-place performer in the event.
Minnesota Morris has a busy week ahead, traveling to Minneapolis on Wednesday for the Running on Hope Open. The Cougars will follow that up on Saturday with the Ron Masanz Classic in Moorhead.
