Everyone’s talking about the fact that President Trum wears diapers, especially liberals, who seem to think that it is acceptable to mock him for doing so. But as someone who has had to care for people in advanced stages of mental decline, I find this behavior repugnant.

As with all people suffering from dementia, we should treat President Trump with dignity, compassion, and respect. Indeed, we should be helping him.

For example, there has been much criticism of the President for referring to Azerbaijan as Aberbaijan and for saying that Aberbaijan has had a border conflict with Albania. Of course, everyone knows that Azerbaijan borders Armenia and not Albania. But for someone suffering from a serious form of dementia, it is easy to think that Minnesota borders North Carolina rather than North Dakota or to refer to Arizona as Abizona.

But instead of mocking the mentally disabled for such errors, we could help the president. Sending him candy treats or love notes when he pronounces the names of countries correctly or identifies bordering nations accurately could stimulate his brain and make him feel good.

Rather than ridiculing him for his daily misstatements, we should find a way to support him in his state of mental decline. I think all Americans should send him a gold star every time he says something right or true, as this could have a positive effect. And it won’t take much effort, because—well, he so infrequently says anything right or true.
