The closed session will be continued March 28 at 10 a.m.

The Morris City Council was met with about 80 members of the public on Friday afternoon when they met for a closed session. The session was for “misconduct allegations for someone subject to [the council’s] authority,” said City Manager Rebecca Schrupp.

The council chambers filled with members of the public, some holding signs showing support for the Morris Public Library and Librarian, Anne Barber.

The signs included phrases of, “Anne is Amazing,” “We are lucky to have her here, Keep Anne,” “Our Library is the beating heart of Morris,”and “Libraries are not for profit, Keep Anne.”

Once Mayor Kevin Wohlers closed the meeting citing Minnesota Statute 13.D-05, sub paragraph 2B for preliminary consideration of allegations or charges against an individual subject to the council’s authority, the onlookers filed out of the council chambers into the lobby of the senior center and just outside the building.

After nearly an hour of closed meeting, the public was invited back into the council chambers where they learned the closed session would be continued on Fri. March 28 at 10 a.m., and no further action was taken.
