Through 10 Land O’ Ducks (LOD) league games, the Morris Eagles were yet to lose a game and recently put the LOD on ice, securing a regular season title. The Eagles hosted the Clinton Cards in Morris July 6 and were able to wrap up the Land O’ Ducks league title by winning 6-4 to improve them to 10-0 in the league.

Mac Beyer started off the game with a homer in the first inning to give the Eagles a 1-0 advantage. Clinton came back to take a lead by scoring two runs in the bottom of the third, but Morris came back with two runs in the top of the fourth to take a 3-2 advantage through four innings. The Cards scored a run in the fifth and sixth innings to go back in front 4-3. The Eagles tied the game in the top of the seventh with a single run, then sealed the game with two runs in the eighth to earn a 6-4 win.

Beyer had a big game, finishing 3 for 5 with a homer, two RBI and a run. Zach Bruns went 2 for 4 with an RBI And a steal. Ozzy Jerome was 2 for 4 with a run. Bryce Jergenson finished 2 for 4 with a double, a run and an RBI. Jonah Huebner also had multiple hits, going 2 for 4 with a run and a steal.

Brett Hansen pitched all nine innings and allowed two earned runs off eight hits and struck out 11 and walked none.

The win against the Cards improved Morris to 10-0 in the Land O’ Ducks League and secured the regular season title. They also locked up the one seed in the Region 3C playoffs.
