After 25 years of business, many remodels and expansions, and several weeks of rumors, we are announcing the sale of the Old No. 1 Bar and grill to Matt and Meredith Lhotka.
To all the people who supported us over the years, we want to say a heartfelt “thank you.”
Our success has been because of two things: dedicated staff and great customers. We have hosted thousands of events including weddings, family reunions, birthdays, business meetings, Christmas parties, etc.. We have had over 400 employees work for us over the years. We are lucky to call many of our former and current employees our friends.
We can’t possibly name all the people who have made this possible, from long-term employees, including Matt, Erika, Audrey, Jeff, Lori, Sam, Leah, and Percy, to the many employees who have come and gone, and have worked with us for short or long stretches. Our current crew of kitchen staff, wait staff and bar staff (too many to personally name) are some of the best we’ve had work for us!
We want to send a special thank you to the VFW and the Auxiliary for giving us the chance to start the restaurant. We’ve lost many VFW friends over the years. They are not forgotten. Some of our best memories include sitting around the bar listening to the stories from those old timers.
With a heavy heart we are leaving. But we are so excited for Matt and Meredith Lhotka. Matt’s hard work and dedication throughout the years was invaluable, and he deserves the chance to take the Old No. 1 into the next chapter. We hope you will continue to give them your support!
We can’t possibly put into words the gratitude we have for all of you. But if you would like to stop by and say “hi” before we head out the door, please join us Friday, September 30, as we spend our last evening as the owners of the Old Number One Bar and Grill. If we don’t see you Friday, don’t worry: we plan to remain active in and around Morris!
