Superintendent Troy Ferguson of the Morris Area Schools sent a letter over the weekend to parents of students in the school district. He told the parents that the district was informed by the Minnesota Department of Health of a second lab confirmed case of COVID-19 in a member of the Morris Area Schools community.
Ferguson assured parents that they continue to work with the MDH, Lakes Country Regional Support Team, and Local Public Health Officials to identify those who had close contact with the case, and continue to communicate with them individually. He added that the risk of exposure for other individuals present in the building on that date is no greater than the risk of contracting the virus in the general community.
“This is a challenging time and many of us are feeling stress or anxiety,” Ferguson stated. “Please know, we are following protocols established in our planning over the past months. Our Incident Response Team will continue to meet and we will consult with our Region Support Team, Horizon Public Health, and MDH as we make decisions on our learning model moving forward. We will get through this together as a community, and will be stronger when we emerge.”
