If you are the type of person who enjoys a good steak, you are in for a treat. Next May or June, a new steakhouse will be opening its doors in Morris and ready to welcome customers.
Prime SteakHouse will be located next to GrandStay Hotel on the lot between the hotel and Greeley’s Plumbing and Heating. Groundbreaking is set for mid-October and work will continue through the winter. The steakhouse will be owned by a small group of local investors that are interested in community development.
The building will be 4800 square feet in size and have a sidewalk making it accessible from the nearby hotel. It will be able to hold 132 people inside and another 24 outside. The outdoor patio will be covered with a pergola and have weather screens to protect it from sun and wind.
The owners are enlisting the help of some top chefs out of the Minneapolis area to help with design and menu items. However, once the project is underway they will be looking to hire an executive chef and staff. This will probably be in early spring before what is hoped to be a soft opening in May.
The goal is not to take away from the current restaurants in and around the Morris area but to create a new demographic. The restaurant will be an upscale steakhouse and a place where travelers staying at the hotel can just walk to enjoy a good meal. Also a portion of the building can be sectioned off for private meetings and gatherings.
The menu will of course feature steak and it is hoped that this will be from locally grown beef. There may even be a retail area where people can purchase a fresh steak directly from the business. If you would prefer grilling your own, this might be a great option.
There will also be a selection of appetizers, along with burgers, chicken and pork meals. There will be a full bar with bar seating available. Children are welcome but as of right now they are not planning to have a children’s menu.
Brandi Ross, the general manager of the GrandStay, will also manage the Prime SteakHouse. Brandi and the owners will be working on setting up some social media sites such as a facebook page this winter. They then promise to show a few ‘teasers’ about what you can expect once spring arrives.
The owners would like to emphasize that this will be a place for the entire community. Keep a look out as tiny hints start to emerge about what we will find when it is complete.
