MAES sixth grade teacher Scott Gonnerman, left, with student teacher Kari Didier, right.
Some good advice from a teacher to a student teacher is to never stop learning. This is one thing that Morris Area Elementary School teacher Scott Gonnerman is sharing with his student teacher, Kari Didier. It is only one example of the advice he is giving but something Didier is taking very seriously, especially as she learns several new ways of teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic.
COVID-19 is not the only unique thing about Didier’s student teaching. She is also learning under another UMM graduate, Gonnerman, who attended the University from 1988-1992. College life is very different right now with less in-person classes and school life is different with Hybrid learning. Take all these into account while also learning the basics of teaching and you have a huge challenge ahead.
