As the number of COVID-19 cases rise in the region, local organizations are cancelling community events. Community groups are also taking into account guidance from the Minnesota Department of Health that limits groups to 25 or less with social distancing requirements mandated.
“We regret to announce that due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the Donnelly Threshing Bee, scheduled for Aug. 29 and 30, will not be held,” a statement from the Donnelly Community Club last week said. It would have been the community’s 55th annual celebration of the event.
At its June 16 monthly meeting, the Stevens County Fair Board voted to cancel this year’s fair, which would have taken place Aug. 11 to 16.
Add to the list of cancelled community events Prairie Pioneer Days set for September. The Morris Area Chamber of Commerce announced this year’s festival has been postponed until 2021.
