The 2020 U.S. Census will soon be underway, and if you are a snow bird who claims Minnesota as your residency, but won’t be back on April 1, you can still be counted as a Minnesota resident.
Just wait until you return to Minnesota, or put on your census report your Minnesota address.
The sign outside Morris says a population of 5,363. Had I not put Morris down as my address, the sign would say 5,362. Yes, I was in Arizona on April 1, 2010, but it was legal to put my Morris address on the form.
Recent reports say that for every resident, $28,000 is returned to Minnesota over 10 years. I’d rather have that money go to Minnesota, than to Arizona, or Florida, or Texas.
Think about it.
