People interested in attending all or part of the once in a lifetime celebration of Hancock’s 150th anniversary year are encouraged to “Save the date.” Hancock City Clerk Jodi Bedel gave the Hancock city council a brief overview of the ongoing plans for the celebration which will coincide with Hancock’s annual July 4th celebration. The dates to save will be from Friday, July 1 – Monday, July 4. There will be lots of activities on each of these days with more plans being made almost daily.
Bedel listed some of the highlights including daily music and reunions at Buddies, a Medallion Hunt throughout the weekend, School tours, historical landmark tours, a golf tournament on Saturday, Car show through the weekend, a food court downtown and a carnival on July 4. The regular July 4 events will also continue with ball games, pancake breakfast, parades, 5K run/walk, tractor pull and fireworks. It will be a weekend full of activity.
The Hancock Lions Club is in charge of the July 4 activities and has selected the theme for the weekend. It will be ‘As we live – we grow’. They have also selected the grand marshals as the ‘People of Hancock.’ Both events are still looking for donations and volunteers to make it successful.
