ST. PAUL, Minn. – University of Minnesota Morris junior Mondo Calderon was named the UMAC Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday after blocking a pair of extra points for the Cougars in a loss to Carleton College on Saturday.
Calderon had blocked extra points in both the first quarter and second quarter, breaking through the middle of the line to deny Carleton kicker Trent Ramirez. Calderon ended the day with six tackles on the defensive line as well, with one solo tackle and five assisted tackles.
It was a similar story in the season opener for Calderon as he blocked a Macalester field goal attempt that led to a Minnesota Morris touchdown.
The Cougars return to Big Cat Stadium to host Hamline University on Sept. 18 starting at 1 p.m.
