A tribute to area high school senior spring athletes
Letter from Morris/C-A head coach Kirby Sayles
I have been thinking about our high school athletes and the misfortune they have had in losing their spring sports season. I know it may be for the best, but it doesn’t make it any easier. I feel bad for all of my players, we had many juniors and sophomores who lost their first chance at playing on a varsity team. We have players that have lost a complete year of development, that may inhibit their potential success for the future, and every single player has lost their season with their friends and teammates. But I am especially feeling bad for our 4 seniors on the diamond. These four have truly led by example of what we want our Tiger Baseball players to be. This group holds a special place with me, when I first started teaching in Morris, these seniors were the first group I coached as 7th grade football players. They worked hard back then and continued to push our sports programs in the right direction. I was truly excited to work with them this spring because I believed with their leadership we were going to accomplish many goals this season. All four of them were multi-year starters and I want to share a few of their highlights.
The Morris/C-A senior baseball players include: Colten Scheldorf, Cade Fehr, Jack Riley and Austin Berlinger.
