The Morris 18U baseball team opened up the Central Minnesota Independent League play last week by going 1-1. Morris fell to Willmar in the opener Thursday, July 9 and beat Kimball Friday, July 10.
The Central Minnesota Independent League is an 18-and-under summer baseball league set up by area coaches after the cancellation of the Legion baseball season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The league includes: Benson; BOLD; Granite Falls; Hector; Kimball; Melrose; Minnewaska; Montevideo; New London-Spicer; Redwood Falls; Sacred Heart/MACCRAY; Tri-Town (Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City); and Willmar.
Morris, now 1-1, played New London-Spicer Monday and play Tri-Town Thursday, July 16, at Chizek Field in Morris.
