Seedings for basketball playoffs announced

The basketball section tournament seedings have been finalized and announced and three of the four area teams earned high spots in the top half of their respective subsections. The Morris/C-A boys basketball and Hancock girls basketball teams both took No. 1 seeds while Hancock boys claimed the No. 2 seed in Section 6A-South.

The Morris/C-A boys, seeded 11th in QRF, will open against No. 8 A-C-GC at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 18, in Morris. The winner will then play whoever wins between the No. 4 Minnewaska and No. 5 New London-Spicer at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 20, in Morris. Section 3AA boys basketball bracket here.

The Section 6A girls basketball begins with play-in games on March 15. Hancock, undefeated through the regular season at 16-0, claimed the No. 1 seed in the South subsection and will play the winner of Monday’s play-in game against No. 8 Ashby and No. 9 Ortonville at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, in Hancock. The Hancock girls are currently ranked No. 9 in QRF in Class A. Bracket here.

The Hancock boys basketball team finished the regular season 13-5 overall and was seeded No. 2 by one QRF ranking. Section 6A was seeded by QRF Sunday, March 14. Parkers Prairie was ranked 35 in QRF while Hancock was 34. The Owls will host the winner of No. 7 KMS and No. 10 Ortonville on March 18, at 7 p.m. in Hancock. Bracket here.

Section 3AA girls basketball starts on Tuesday, March 16. No. 6 Morris/C-A will travel to No. 3 Eden Valley-Watkins for the opening round. The Tigers ended the regular season 5-13 overall. Section 3AA girls basketball bracket here.
