After a non-existent state meet in 2020 due to COVID-19, the 2021 Tiger cross country teams have the bar set to keep the tradition of having at least one runner at the Class A State Cross Country meet Nov. 6, at St. Olaf College in Northfield.
“In my 12 years as head coach, we’ve had at least one runner in the state meet every year except last year,” head coach Dale Henrich said.
COVID-19 threw a big wrench into those traditions as all fall state tournaments were cancelled.
“If there was a state meet last year, I think we would have had a few kids at it,” Henrich said. Read the full story including other comments from the coach here.
Pomme de Terre Golf Course will host the first meet of the season for Morris/C-A on Monday, Aug. 30, in Morris. A total of 13 teams will compete in the opener, another drastic and welcomed change from the 2020 season where only four teams could compete in a single meet. The Tigers also run at Lac qui Parle Valley Thursday, Sept. 2, in Appleton.
