The Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta football team won the Section 5AA championship over No. 2-seeded Paynesville Friday, Nov. 20, at Big Cat Stadium in Morris.
This week’s game was originally scheduled to be played against No. 4-seeded Kimball as a semifinal game Saturday afternoon, but executive order 20-99 issued Wednesday switched the Tigers opponent, date and time to abide by the new guidelines and make Friday night’s game a section championship per a previously made agreement within Section 5AA.
“Just the opportunity to compete for a section championship was awesome. That was one of our goals to start the year and especially after a year like this, it feels pretty good,” senior defensive end Brady Backman said.
