The Morris Area / Chokio-Alberta / West Central Area girls tennis team ended the regular season with a 5-2 win over Melrose Thursday, Sept. 24, in Melrose. That came after a 7-0 loss to Minnewaska Tuesday, Sept. 22, in Morris.
Against Melrose, Abbigail Athey, Katelyn Wehking and Kassidy Girard all won at the top three singles spots. Greta Hentges and Lakia Manska also won at No. 1 doubles. Brynna Olson and Breanna Schmidgall dropped just one game in their straight sets victory at No. 2 doubles.
Regardless of the team score against Minnewaska, Tiger head coach Britney House was impressed with her players.
“Even though the meet score was 0-7, that was the best we have ever played against Minnewaska since I have been coaching,” House said. “Almost every spot in the line-up won their first game in the first set, which we haven’t done very often, so that was so encouraging to see.”
