UMM Sports Information
In an ongoing effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, the University of Minnesota Morris athletic department has made the difficult decision to not allow fans to attend games at Jim Gremmels Court during the upcoming 2021 basketball season. UMN Morris will monitor regional and national trends while continuing to assess this decision in the coming weeks of the respective sport seasons.
“UMN Morris is committed to providing the safest possible environment for our students, staff and faculty,” said Director of Athletics Matt Johnson. “In light of this, no spectators will be allowed at the University of Minnesota Morris home basketball games. This challenging decision was made to limit the possible exposure of our Cougar family to COVID-19.”
Men’s and women’s basketball, as well as women’s track & field gets underway on January 30. Men’s basketball will travel to take on the College of St. Scholastica, while the women’s team hosts St. Scholastica here in Morris. The women’s track & field team travels to UW-Superior that day, while the men’s track & field team begins competition on Feb. 6 with a trip to St. Scholastica. Neither UW-Superior or St. Scholastica are allowing fans for any track & field meets this season.
The nine UMAC schools all have various policies regarding fan attendance this year. For more information on each school’s policy, please visit the UMAC Institutional Spectator Policy page.
As always, the Cougar Sports Network will carry a live stream of all home men’s and women’s basketball games for each contest this year. Live stats will also be available for every game.
