The budget was on the agenda, in the proposals and probably always on the minds of the Stevens County Commissioners at their meeting on August 16. In fact, prior to the meeting there was a work session to also talk about budget items.
The first five items on the agenda were appropriation requests from several county organizations. The first was for the Stevens County Historical Society with Director Cam Erickson and Board President Karen DeVita giving the proposal. They reviewed the many things the museum did over the last year which was the 150th year for the museum. Erickson stated that they have been operating short-staffed for a majority of the year and it has been difficult to get applicants for the jobs.
“It is a challenge to be a non-profit in a small community,” stated Erickson.
