If you’re not a subscriber to the Stevens County Times, you’re probably wondering why it’s in your mailbox this week.
For more than a year, The Stevens County Times, along with its sister newspapers, The Swift County Monitor-News and The Grant County Herald, has embarked upon a venture to revamp and redesign its layout to include new and updated graphics, easier-to-read fonts, better design flow, and to just plain look better.
The process was long and involved many parts.
Focus groups with community members, in-depth staff training, and a complete redesign of the layout and style of the newspaper were key parts of this journey.
The finished redesign was launched in November, and since then, our staff have been continuing to make tweaks and improvements as we find our footing with our new design.
As a Christmas gift, and an opportunity to introduce ourselves to you, we’ve decided to do a “full run” this week, which means that anyone with a Stevens County residential address, subscriber or not, will receive a copy of the newspaper this week.
We want to show you what we have to offer, and hopefully, inspire you to subscribe.
We aim to cover all things from local government happenings to the stories that embody the heartbeat and essence of the communities we serve.
You, yes you, holding this paper, are why we do what we do. If you have ideas or suggestions, we’d love to hear them.
We are none of us perfect, but we can try to get a little closer each day. We value your feedback and want to give you the news and style that you wish to see.
If you like what you see and want to subscribe, please stop in or give us a call! Due to rising costs, our rates will be increasing at the beginning of the new year, so stop in to see us before that to lock in our current rates!
Our office hours will be affected by the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, and we will be open on Dec. 23 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and closed on Dec. 24, 25 and 26. We will be open again on Dec. 29 and 30 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed on Dec. 31, Jan. 1 and 2.
If you call in and leave a message or email after hours before the first of the new year, we will honor current rates!
