Verona Schmidgall

Verona May Schmidgall, 93, of Arden Hills, MN (Formerly Hancock, MN), passed away on Saturday, June 15th at the Presbyterian homes surrounded by her family.

Verona was born on May 4, 1931 to John and Clara Younga of Hancock, Minnesota. After Verona graduated from Hancock High School in 1949, she went on to marry William (Bill) Schmidgall and they had 10 children and raised them in Hancock. Bill and Verona were members of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Some of mom’s favorite memories were her children, swimming at Page Lake, going on family picnics, cooking, tending to her many gardens, and doing crossword puzzles. After the children were raised and left Hancock, Bill and Verona moved to the Twin Cities.

Verona was predeceased by her parents, John & Clara, sister Clarabelle, husband William, daughter Julie, and grandson, Loren. She is survived by Franny and Larry Pardee (Sabrina) of White Bear Lake, MN; Steven and Kazumi Schmidgall (Matthew and Sarah) of Chandler, AZ; Sandy and Bob Bleau of Fountain Hills, AZ; Randy and Glenda Schmidgall (Alicia & Ryan) of Olathe, KS; Amber & Todd Vallier (Julie) of Idaho; Kim Wakefield (Courtney) of Colorado Springs, CO; Scott (Melaney Ankeney) Schmidgall (Taylor & Joseph); Lisa (Jere Hansen) Miller (Justin) of Maple Grove, MN; Stacy and Brad Claassen (Brandon & Zachary) of Maple Grove, MN; Gwen & Bill Dafnis (Isabella & Alex) of Cave Creek, AZ; and 8 great grandchildren.

A memorial service for immediate family only will be held on Monday, June 24th. The family is requesting donations to the Presbyterian Homes Foundation in memory of Verona.
